Fragrance oil praised for "fresh, clean ocean notes" with strong scent and good retention. Customers said it "sells really well" in candles and soap. However, significant challenges in cold process soap including acceleration, ricing, and discoloration to yellow. Some found scent strength lacking. Success requires techniques like cooling soap and stick blending.

Tricky but worth it

Great scent - strong, good retention, no discoloration, sells really well. Every Salty Mariner I've tried rices. My tricks: soap cool, full water, add the FO at light trace and stir. It will thicken and rice; stick blend until it is smooth. It will be very thick but it will smooth out. I do an in the mold spoon swirl. HTH

Accelerates discolors to yellow in CP

I used this in cold processed soap and really didn’t like how it behaved. To use it up I am using it in a beach soap where I want the sand to set up quickly and I won’t care if it turns yellow. The scent is just ok.

Tricky in CP

I used this in cold process soap. It caused severe acceleration and mild ricing. The soap is only a day old, but so far no discoloration and a strong, pleasant scent. The soap actually looks pretty good despite the acceleration, so I will probably use it again if people really like it and just keep it to either one color or two layers.

RICES & ACCELERATES IN CP SOAP

Used this in CP soap and immediately it turned my soap into cottage cheese. While stick blending the ricing out within 15 seconds it had accelerated I about had soap on a stick. I was able to save the soap but there is still remains of the cottage cheese appearance. The fragrance is nice and that was its saving grace (2 star review) but it's not as strong as I had hoped, especially with the amount recommended (8.4%). I am not sure I am willing to try it again due to the horrible amount of ricing & acceleration I experienced.
