NatureWax® C-6 Wax

Step 1: Prepare Your Containers

Make sure your candle jars are clean, completely dry, and properly wicked before beginning.

Secure and center each wick. Avoid using extremely cold vessels, as dramatic temperature differences can affect adhesion and appearance.

Step 2: Melt the Wax

Heat NatureWax® C-6 gradually until the wax is completely melted and uniform.

A temperature around 175–185°F (79–85°C) provides a useful working range for fully melting the wax and preparing it for fragrance incorporation. Avoid prolonged exposure to unnecessarily high temperatures.

Step 3: Add Candle Dye (Optional)

If using candle-safe dye, add it to the fully melted wax and stir until completely dispersed.

Make sure solid dyes are completely dissolved before moving on to fragrance.

Step 4: Add Fragrance Oil

Once the wax is fully melted:

• Add your carefully measured fragrance oil.
• Start around 6–8% fragrance by weight when developing a new formula.
• Stir gently and thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes.
• Make sure the fragrance is evenly incorporated throughout the wax.

Test every fragrance individually, as fragrance composition can influence scent throw, appearance, adhesion, and wick performance.

Step 5: Allow the Wax to Cool

After incorporating fragrance and dye, allow the wax to begin cooling toward your selected pour temperature.

Stir gently as needed to maintain an even mixture without introducing unnecessary air.

Step 6: Pour the Wax

Begin testing at approximately 160–170°F (71–77°C).

Pour carefully into your prepared containers and allow the candles to cool naturally at room temperature.

Keep freshly poured candles away from fans, drafts, cold countertops, open windows, and sudden temperature changes.

Step 7: Allow the Candles to Set

Leave candles undisturbed until the wax has completely cooled and hardened.

Inspect the finished candles for surface quality and glass adhesion. If necessary, adjust your pour temperature during subsequent batches to optimize the results for your specific vessel and production environment.

Step 8: Cure Before Burning

Allow finished C-6 candles approximately 7–14 days before making your final evaluation of fragrance performance.

Rough or Uneven Tops

Why does my NatureWax C-6 candle have an uneven surface?

Although C-6 is known for its creamy appearance, surface imperfections can still occur due to pour temperature, fragrance oil, vessel temperature, or cooling conditions.

How can I get smoother tops?

Maintain consistent production temperatures and allow candles to cool slowly at a stable room temperature. If rough tops persist, experiment with slightly higher or lower pour temperatures in controlled test batches.

Can I fix the surface after it cools?

Yes. Carefully use a heat gun to remelt a thin layer across the top of the candle, then allow it to cool slowly and undisturbed.

Frosting or Bloom

Why does my C-6 candle have white or crystalline areas?

C-6 is formulated for good resistance to bloom, but its vegetable-wax composition means some crystallization may still occur depending on temperature, fragrance, dye, and storage conditions.

How can I minimize it?

Keep heating, pouring, cooling, and storage temperatures as consistent as possible. Avoid exposing finished candles to dramatic temperature changes.

Wet Spots & Container Adhesion

Why do I see wet-looking areas between my C-6 wax and jar?

These areas generally occur when portions of the wax contract and pull slightly away from the glass. They are typically cosmetic and are not actually pockets of liquid.

How can I improve glass adhesion?

C-6 is specifically designed to provide good glass adhesion. For the best results, use clean, dry containers and avoid pouring into extremely cold vessels. Allow the candles to cool gradually without drafts or sudden temperature changes.

Sinkholes & Air Pockets

Why did a depression form around my wick?

Wax contracts as it cools, which can occasionally create cavities or depressions beneath the surface.

How can I fix a sinkhole?

Carefully create relief holes around the affected area and use a heat gun to remelt the surrounding surface wax, allowing it to fill the cavity before cooling again.

CD Series or ECO Series

Is NatureWax® C-6 good for beginners?

Yes. NatureWax® C-6 can be a great option for beginners who want to work with a coconut soy container wax. Its creamy appearance, good glass adhesion, and resistance to bloom can help produce an attractive finished candle.

Like any candle wax, however, C-6 still requires wick and fragrance testing. Beginners should start with small test batches and change only one variable at a time.

What fragrance load does NatureWax® C-6 support?

A 6–8% fragrance load is a practical starting range when developing candles with NatureWax® C-6. The ideal amount depends on the individual fragrance oil, wick, vessel, and desired scent performance.

Always confirm the suitability of your fragrance oil and conduct testing before increasing the fragrance percentage. More fragrance oil does not necessarily create better hot throw.

How long should I cure candles made with NatureWax® C-6?

For coconut-soy container candles, allowing approximately 7–14 days before making a final evaluation of fragrance performance is a useful testing practice.
