Step 1: Melt the Wax

Heat Golden Wax® 444 slowly to 170–185°F (77–85°C), stirring occasionally until the wax is completely melted and uniform.

Step 2: Add Fragrance Oil

For the best fragrance performance:

• Add fragrance oil between 170–185°F
• Stir gently and thoroughly for 1–2 minutes
• Recommended fragrance load: 6–10% by weight

Always test each fragrance oil individually, as different fragrance formulations can affect wick performance, scent throw, and the finished appearance of the candle.

Step 3: Add Candle Dye (Optional)

If using candle dye, add it once the wax is fully melted and stir until the color is completely dispersed.

For the most consistent results, add dye before incorporating your fragrance oil.

Step 4: Prepare Your Containers

Make sure all candle jars are clean, dry, and at room temperature before pouring.

If your workspace or containers are particularly cool, gently warming the jars can help encourage more even cooling and improve glass adhesion.

Step 5: Pour the Wax

Pour Golden Wax® 444 at approximately 135–145°F (57–63°C) as a starting range.

Pour slowly into prepared containers and allow the candles to cool naturally at room temperature. Keep freshly poured candles away from fans, drafts, cold countertops, and sudden temperature changes.

Step 6: Allow the Candles to Set

Leave candles undisturbed until the wax has completely cooled and hardened.

If rough tops, frosting, or minor surface imperfections occur, adjust your pour temperature and cooling conditions during your next test batch.

Step 7: Cure Before Burning

For optimal fragrance throw and overall candle performance, allow GW® 444 candles to cure for approximately 7–14 days before burn testing.

Rough or Bumpy Tops

Why does my GW 444 candle have a rough surface?

Because Golden Wax® 444 is a soy wax, some crystallization and surface texture can naturally occur as it cools. Pour temperature, room temperature, and cooling speed can all affect the finished surface.

How can I get smoother tops?

Wet Spots & Container Adhesion

Why does my wax look like it's pulling away from the jar?

Why did a hole form near my wick?

As GW® 444 cools and contracts, small cavities or air pockets can occasionally develop beneath the surface, particularly when cooling conditions are uneven.

How can I fix a sinkhole?

Carefully create relief holes near the affected area and use a heat gun to remelt the surrounding wax, allowing melted wax to fill the cavity. Let the candle cool slowly afterward.

Is Golden Wax® 444 good for beginners?
